A companion app for recording your own voice — a parent, a partner, yourself — and turning it into a word pack that plays right inside Nyxlo.
The short version: NyxloRecord is a separate, free-standing app. You record yourself saying each word from a list, it builds a .nyx file from whatever you've recorded, and you import that file into Nyxlo from the Word packs screen. From then on, Nyxlo can read your sessions back in that voice instead of the built-in ones.
Recording isn't something most people do more than once or twice — building it into Nyxlo itself would mean every single install carries microphone permissions and recording code that almost nobody uses. Keeping it as its own app means Nyxlo stays exactly as light as it's always been, and NyxloRecord can grow its own recording-specific features without touching Nyxlo's release at all.
NyxloRecord can work from either of two word lists:
You can record as much or as little as you like. There's no need to finish an entire list before exporting — a pack of 50 words works just as well as a pack of 848, and you can always record more and export again later.
Hold-to-record is the fast path: press and hold, say the word, let go — it's saved immediately, no extra steps. Good for getting through a long list at a steady pace.
Manual record gives you a chance to preview a take and accept or redo it before it's saved — useful if you want to be more deliberate about each word.
Either way, NyxloRecord keeps an eye out for takes that look off — unusually short, unusually long, or with no speech detected at all — and flags them for a quick listen later, so a missed word or a stray noise doesn't quietly end up in your pack.
.nyx file from whatever you've recorded and opens your device's share sheet.Your recording shows up as its own pack, separate from Nyxlo's built-in words and from any downloaded packs — switching to it plays only the words you've recorded, in your own voice.
